Matte
Description
A smooth finish that typically doesn’t reflect light. This finish isn’t flat and is sometimes referred to as eggshell.
Applications
Can be used for any durometer of plastic and will provide a smooth surface that can be useful for smooth parts that don’t require a gloss or texture.

Smooth, not textured.

Glossy
Description
A shiny or reflective surface finish that’s extremely smooth.
Applications
Can be used for any durometer of plastic, but it is typically used for parts needing a reflective or clear appearance. It can also be used for softer parts that need to seal off against other parts, such as an o-ring.

Shiny and extremely smooth.

Light Texture (MT11010 Equivalent)
Description
A dull matte finish that has a sand-like appearance.
Applications
Can be used for any durometer of plastic, but is typically used on hard plastic-like housings or cases that require a cosmetic light texture appearance for aesthetics or added grip.

Lightly textured.

Medium Texture (MT11020 Equivalent)
Description
A more pronounced surface graining for items that require more texture.
Applications
Can be used for any durometer of plastic, but is typically used on hard plastic-like housings or cases that require a cosmetic medium texture appearance for aesthetics or added grip.

Description
The most pronounced surface graining for items that require the highest level of texture.

What is Urethane Casting
About the Urethane Casting Process
Urethane casting (also known as RTV molding, cast urethane, and silicone molding) is a fabrication method that uses silicone molds to produce production-quality plastic parts.
Urethane Casting production consists of three main steps:
1. Build a master pattern using 3D printing or CNC machining
2. Build the mold by pouring platinum silicone around master
3. Pour liquid polyurethane resin into mold, create polyurethane casting under vacuum

With urethane casting, you can get production quality parts at low volumes and without the high costs and lead times of steel or aluminum tooling.
